Substance Misuse and Mental Health Support

Connections in Recovery (CiR) is dedicated to providing substance misuse and mental health support. Their mission is to facilitate access to the best possible resources, ensuring sustained positive outcomes. CiR’s comprehensive approach aims to enhance the well-being and recovery journey of each individual they serve.

CiR offers a variety of services, including consultations, crisis management, interventions, case management, adolescent services, recovery/substance misuse coaches and companions, mental health coaches and companions, treatment placement guidance, and safe, discreet transports. These services are designed to address the multifaceted needs of individuals and families navigating the complexities of substance misuse and mental health disorders.

One of the key aspects of CiR’s approach is their collaboration with the medical community.

They work closely with psychiatrists, therapists, doctors, nurses, treatment centers, and clinical and outreach teams to support clients with addiction and mental health issues. CiR also has a longstanding partnership with UCLA, which enhances their ability to provide top-notch care and resources.

CiR’s commitment to families is another cornerstone of their mission. They help families heal by connecting them to parent support groups, therapists, and providing parent/family coaching. This holistic support system ensures that the entire family can engage in the recovery process, promoting long-term success.

The intertwined nature of biological and psychological factors, along with societal stigma, makes it challenging for individuals struggling with substance misuse and mental health. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated these issues, leading to a rise in complex mental health disorders and substance misuse, such as fentanyl and opiate addiction. In response, CiR has developed a multi-dimensional approach to address these challenges.

CiR offers comprehensive services across Los Angeles, New York, and Europe, including:

  1. Individual and Family Crisis Support Services: Through consulting, assessment, treatment placement, and interventions, CiR provides essential support during crises.
  2. Fully-Vetted Mental Health and Sober Coaches and Companions: These professionals work with clients on addiction, mental health, executive functioning, eating disorders, academic support, life skills, wellness management, and other process addictions.
  3. Case Management: CiR’s substance misuse disorder/mental health case management team, consisting of clinical partners at UCLA and private practice therapists and psychologists, offers guidance and support through all stages of recovery.
  4. Treatment Navigation and Placement Services: Clients receive help planning the next steps toward stabilizing their lives through a three-pronged process: comprehensive assessment of needs and goals, extensive research of available treatment options, and recommendations for a plan of action.
  5. Community Resources: CiR maintains an extensive database and referral system, connecting clients to mental health, addiction, and medical resources worldwide.
  6. Education, Community, Resources, and Connectedness (ECRC): CiR organizes UCLA-affiliated mental health and addiction symposiums and provides quarterly educational services for coaches and companions to better equip them in their work.
  7. Wellness Workshops and Panels: Launched in 2024, these workshops and panels in Los Angeles and New York City offer additional support and resources to the community.

Connections in Recovery’s holistic and collaborative approach ensures that individuals and families receive the comprehensive care and support they need for successful long-term recovery and overall wellness.
